Compassionate Care, Without Barriers

Supporting at-risk individuals with dignity, respect, and evidence-based harm reduction.

Who We Are

We are a team of interdisciplinary professionals consisting of Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Medical Doctors (MDs), Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Personal Support Workers, Peer Support Workers, and Administrative Professionals providing harm reduction services to individuals suffering from substance use disorder.

We strive to provide a low barrier, judgment-free environment that embraces a “meeting people where they are” approach.

What We Do

At RECAP Health Services we offer full spectrum treatment for substance use disorder.

We offer traditional forms of Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) including Methadone, Buprenorphine-Naloxone (Suboxone), 24-hour acting Morphine (Kadian), and monthly injectable Sublocade. These medications are prescribed by our clinic’s NP or MD.

We will also provide treatment for stimulant use disorder by providing common ADHD medications such as Dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine), methylphenidate (Concerta), or lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse) to combat cravings against crystal meth or crack cocaine. This substance is most used by our most vulnerable population due to its inexpensive cost of $5 to $10 per day.

Stimulants can help individuals stay awake while experiencing homelessness and needing to remain vigilant overnight, reduce hunger, and create feelings of euphoria or connection.

RECAP Health Services also offers injectable Opioid Agonist Therapy (iOAT) as a treatment option for individuals suffering from refractory intravenous opioid use disorder.

Approximately 15% of individuals on traditional OAT require additional support through iOAT. To participate in iOAT, we have a thorough screening process that includes a comprehensive intake assessment. Our healthcare team gathers detailed information about an individual’s drug use history, preferred methods of use, injection history, and any adverse drug-related events.

Once approved, the prescribed medication is dispensed by our pharmacy and administered onsite under medical supervision. No medications or injections leave the clinic.

RECAP’s nurse-led program aims at improving HCV/STBBI care for at-risk populations, particularly through early intervention, streamlined treatment processes, and targeted policy advocacy.

We detail the program’s effectiveness in reducing HCV prevalence and its impact on provincial healthcare systems through the reduction of treatment barriers.

In partnership with public health and community correctional facilities, we offer onsite Dried Blood Spot (DBS) testing at our clinic in additional to blood work.

We support individuals throughout the entire process, from screening and securing medical coverage for treatment to developing a medication dispensing plan that promotes adherence. If there are signs of liver disease, we involve medical specialists to ensure treatment goes well.

Community Connections

At RECAP Health Services we strive to build connections with other like-minded community organizations.

In doing so we can support participants using our programs by providing them with the connections to other organizations that provide services that may be of benefit to them (housing, social development, life skills training etc).

R
Respect

All persons should be afforded equal access to quality healthcare services which are considerate of the individual’s needs.
